Objectives:

The main objective of the activity is to pre-develop the full Inter-Satellite Link (ISL) payload, in support to Galileo 2nd Generation activities, in order to minimize the technological risks and identify opportunities for future Galileo satellites.

The ISL critical units include:

The Antenna Scan Mechanism (ASM), which includes mechanism and electronics – and the RF Module (RFM), - which includes the Down Converter (DC), a robust Low Noise Amplifier (LNA), an Up Converter (UC) and the amplification stage with the Microwave Power Module (MPM) -. Depending on the ISL payload architecture, those units may be independent physical modules or some of them combined.
