A distributed network of Gamma-Ray Burst detectors on Galileo satellites

In the frame of the Call for Ideas “H2020-ESA-038 GNSS Evolutions Experimental Payloads and Science Activities”, the study proposes to investigate the feasibility of embarking a small gamma-ray burst detector on Galileo satellites in order to improve the localisation capability significantly with respect to current state of art even based on dedicated missions.

A system design/concept is proposed including the identification of the detector properties (size, mass, amount), minimum number of satellites, impact on satellites and mission.
